Martin had a relatively tough childhood. He grew up with many siblings under one adoptive mother, a priest, whom he has a shaky relationship with. He wasn't allowed much self-expression, nor was his transition appreciated by his mother.

He went missing on purpose for his transition, around 17 years of age. The years he spent squatting, working, going to doctors, getting like a fucking 6 m² flat, and then ending this period of his life by rekindling with his childhood best friend/high-school sweetheart Scott.

He later followed Scotty (very gladly, though hidden by annoyance) to Manchester for work and studying. He decided not to pursue university, not yet at least, and instead took up miscellaneous classes here and there between cashier work and working at the library.
